Book Design for Descendants.

Two fellow graphic designers and I were working on a book design for an organisation called Descendants, who are based in the London borough of Ealing. The Descendants charity focuses on working with kids and youth of Afro-Caribbean decent to learn about their ancestors’ history through creative activities such as drawing, acting or singing. We were working closely with Margaret Noel, the founder of Descendants, and Dr Patricia Walker, the editor of the book, on this four month project.

This experience has taught me a lot about how to work within the design industry (especially as this project was our very first time working with a live client brief) and how to work efficiently in a group setting. The content of the book varies from essays, letters or poems made by the kids who spent their time with Descendants and people in the local community who helped fund this organisation and helped shape to become who they are today.
